Amanda’s Foster to Adoption Story

adoption_story

Every foster to adoption story is different. They each have a richly diverse background but we hope that all these stories have happy endings.

Today’s adoption story is that of Amanda Baber and her newest son Xakry Cameron Johnson. The Babers are not new to the parent game before Xakry they had three children of their own.

The Babers met Xakry when he was in the hospital after his birth. “We became his parents straight from the NICU at 2 weeks old,” said Amanda. This immediate feeling of family is a beautiful gift amongst fostering parents.

On April 3, 2019, the Babers officially adopted Xakry. To celebrate the moment, they reached out to us through our Framing Forever program for a photographer. Because Foster Love - Together We Rise is committed to helping foster families, we offer professional photography for foster to adoption families to capture their adoption day. This is possible due to our network of professional volunteer photographers, who dedicate their time and talent to foster families across the nation.

Our photographer met up with the Babers at the Pinal County Superior Courthouse in Arizona. The courtroom filled with friends and family supporting Xakry and the Babers. It was a truly joyful occasion and we are honored to have been able to help capture the moment.

Congratulations to the Barber family! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day.

To conclude, Foster Love - Together We Rise would like to help capture your foster to adoption day. Check out our Framing Forever program here.

“A hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was. The sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove. But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.” -Dr. Forest E. Witcraft.
