Valentine’s Day for Foster youth, TWR Style

Valentine’s Day TWR Style

Throughout the first few weeks of February, Foster Love - Together We Rise was able to host three Valentine’s Day events at our headquarters in Chino, CA.  The events took place to create Valentine cards for local foster kids and around the country through their foster care charities.

On average, 151 million valentines are exchanged on Valentine’s Day[1]. Unfortunately, foster kids often do not often have the chance to be apart of Valentine exchanges. Exchanging valentines at school can be an embarrassing event for foster kids if they do not have valentines to give classmates.  Because of this embarrassment and frustration, TWR reaches out to foster kids during this time.  Our cards show them encouragement, hope, and love.

Kohl’s and Toyota, two of our corporate sponsors, donated their time and energy to come out to our headquarters and create some awesome personalized Valentine cards.

Volunteers created 300 hand-made Valentines at these three events! Because of these efforts, many local foster kids have the chance to open a personalized valentine. They’ll see that someone is thinking of them and cares about them. They will also receive a $5 gift card from In-N-Out, Baskin Robbins, Starbucks, or Wendy’s.

Thank you so much to our volunteers and those who donated to this important event! We couldn’t have provided over $1,500 in gift cards if it wasn’t for our awesome community that always comes to the rescue!

Without volunteers and donations from our awesome volunteers and sponsors, this event would not have been successful.  Thank you to our sponsors and volunteers for helping us transform the way youth navigate through the foster care system.  Happy Valentine’s Day!
