When a child is removed from their parents’ care by Child Protective Services, it often happens suddenly, even in the middle of the night. Amara provides a safe and nurturing environment for these children at our Emergency Sanctuary. Often they come to us with little to nothing – they may carry a few belongings stuffed in a trash bag, or have only the clothes on their back.
We smooth this difficult path by sending each and every child to their next placement with a bag of toys and supplies – belongings they can call their own.
Amara is opening a new Emergency Sanctuary in Tacoma, to serve kids entering foster care in Pierce County, and we need bags and supplies to get started. Help us stock our new Sanctuary with Sweet Cases to prepare for the hundreds of children we’ll serve just in the next year!
Buy a bag! Every donation of $20 buys a Sweet Case for a child in foster care. Our goal is to raise $6,000 for 300 Sweet Cases!
The first 200 Sweet Cases will go to kids who stay at our Emergency Sanctuary, and the next 100 will go to kids staying at the Seattle and Tacoma offices of the Washington Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
Share this campaign! Ask your friends to buy a bag, and raise awareness about children in #fostercare.
We couldn’t do this work without our supporters! Thank you for being there for our community’s kids.
