Our story was inspired by one boy named Roger in 2008...
Today, we change the way tens of thousands of kids experience foster care in the U.S.

About Us & Our Mission
Together We Rise is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization comprised of motivated young adults and former foster youth. Our vision is to improve the lives of foster children in America, who often find themselves forgotten and neglected by the public. We collaborate with community partners to bring resources to foster youth and use service-learning activities to educate volunteers on issues surrounding the foster care system.

TWR works with hundreds of foster agencies, social workers, CASA advocates, and other partners to bring our programs to foster youth across the nation. Our foundation has allowed us to provide thousands of foster youth across the country with new bicycles, college supplies, and suitcases so that children do not have to travel from home to home with their belongings in a trash bag.
Together We Rise is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the way youth navigate through the foster care system in America.
Our Story
In 2008, TWR was founded by Danny Mendoza after he discovered that his 9 year-old cousin was living in a car. He wanted to help but ran into obstacles because he was under the age of 21. Danny became disheartened after he was denied the ability to help his cousin and youth like his cousin.

Danny then had a vision to create ways to help youth in foster care without becoming a foster parent.  After telling others about his vision, he was inspired by encouragement from friends and colleagues to use his ambition to help others and start a new organization.  Danny's vision turned reality when he created, Together We Rise,  now a nation-wide organization changing the way youth experience foster care.
We are advocates. We are young, ambitious, humanitarians, artists, and students. We are unique individuals who are ready to see change in this world and are eager to pursue it. As a non-profit, our team is completely compiled of passionate staff, interns and volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of foster children across the U.S. by building awareness and volunteer opportunities we hope to better the lives of children and give them a sense of normalcy in their sometimes turbulent world.
The foster care system can be a confusing and sometimes disheartening place, but through our fundraising and network of passionate volunteers, we strive to give foster children a brighter future, a sense of normalcy and belonging. We create engagement opportunities for the public to giveback through our programs such as Sweet Cases, Build-A-Bike, Build-A-Board and our Birthday Boxes. Our Family Fellowship and Aging Out program also provides resources to older youth who are leaving the foster care system. We strive to be the helping hand that foster youth need so that they may go confidently onto their futures.
