Adoption Story in a Nutshell

Foster Story in a Nutshell

Adoption Story in a Nutshell

Here is an adoption story in a nutshell. This week we had the pleasure of chatting with Sara about her foster to adoption story. Sara says, “it’s been a crazy adventure!”  Well, we are always up for an adoption adventure.

With Every Broken Heart, We Should Become More Adventurous

Sara and her husband came into fostering after the loss of their son Gavin. He tragically passed away in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at five days old from a birth defect. “As devastating as that was, we still had so much love and care to give. We decided to give that to children who may need it most.”

With two biological sons, Sara’s family primarily focused on the reunification aspect of fostering. Sara shared, “We did hope to adopt but realized that reunification is almost always the plan.”

With Arms Outstretched

Sara’s family officially grew by three this April. Their first foster to adoptive JJ came to them at five months old. Sara reflected on how they met JJ, “He came to us starving and dehydrated with 18 bone fractures. After four long years, we were finally able to adopt him!”

They were able to adopt JJ’s baby sister Kaylee as well. Kayle came into their lives as a newborn and is turning three in November. Both JJ and Kayle’s adoptions finalized on February 6th.

Their last son Zavier came to them at 15 months old. Sara and her family couldn’t have been more excited to finalize his adoption on April 5th.

Rest of My Life

Sara’s story comes with so much hope. Families are made and love is a constant. Sara leave us with this final thought,”It’s all been a crazy ride, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We are over the moon to finally be a forever family!”

Thank you to Sara and her family for sharing their story. If you are in the process of adopting from foster care, please check out our Framing Forever program that offers free photography to foster to adoption families.
